Dr Rajasekar worked in the field of organ transplantation in prestigious academic institutions like- St. James�s hospital, Leeds, Guy�s Hospital, London and University of New castle. He was awarded an MD degree by the University of Newcastle for his work on transplant tolerance and he has peer reviewed publications. Subsequently he worked at the University of Chicago Hospital for two years to get accredited/ ASTS certified training in liver, kidney and pancreatic transplantation. He returned to India in 1996, to set up India�s first liver transplant programme at New Delhi and carried out the country�s first successful adult and pediatric liver transplants. He also pioneered laparoscopic donor nephrectomy in India. In the 14 year period he pioneered liver transplantation in India in both adults and children and also pioneered the technique of adult to adult living related liver transplantation in South Asia and has to his credit � one of the large series of cadaveric and living donor liver transplants in India. He has trained six surgeons in organ transplantation and established 3 liver transplant programs. He has extensive expertise in Liver, bile duct, pancreas related cancer surgeries, as well as transplantation of liver, kidney and pancreas in adults and children. He is the senior most liver transplant surgeon of India and has a vast experience in adult to adult living donor liver transplantation.
